FarOutRide, the Ford Transit build blog and one of our tier-A sources, published the first installment of a page it plans to keep updating: measured, not estimated, power draw for a real van's appliances. The 20 July post breaks consumption down device by device, and the numbers carry more weight than most spec-sheet estimates because they come from actual instrumentation rather than manufacturer claims.
On the DC side: a 12V compressor fridge pulled 522Wh on a summer day; a Starlink Mini averaged 486Wh/day, split into 45–60W during boot, 22–35W active, and 15–17W idle; the roof fan ran 45W at speed 10, 17W at speed 5, and 2W at its lowest setting. On the AC side — measured at the outlet with Zigbee smart plugs, then padded 12% for inverter loss to estimate actual battery draw — an induction-cooktop meal cost 369Wh at the plug (~414Wh from the battery); toasting in the oven, 127Wh (~142Wh); a full 15L water-heater cycle, 980Wh (~1,100Wh); and a day of temperature maintenance on that same heater, 1,386Wh (~1,552Wh) — more than the fridge and the Starlink combined.
The DC figures come from a custom "Quad-Shunt" device wired into the van's EcoFlow Distribution Panel, with system-level totals tracked through the EcoFlow app and a Home Assistant Green dashboard. Daily totals and solar-harvest figures are both marked "coming soon" — the only harvest data point published so far is qualitative: winter yield runs way below summer. For anyone sizing a system off vendor datasheets instead of a real installation, this is the kind of ground-truth reference that's usually missing.
